Using the menu bar

If you plan on using the menu bar then you have to close or to minimize all the other windows, so that you can clearly see the desktop. Then, you will find an icon with the name of the disk that you want to eject.

Now, you have to click on that icon, which will get highlighted. This means that it is selected and now you can move your mouse cursor to the menu bar on the top of the screen and click the “File” button. You will see a small menu that will have the following options: New Finder Window, New Folder, New Smart Folder and many others. You have to click on the eject option, which will also appear on the list. You will see that some of the upper mentioned ones are gray; this means that these are unavailable for the operation that you want to make.

After you clicked on the Eject button, the disk should slide out.

Using the keyboard

As I mentioned at the first option, you have to close or minimize all your windows in order to have in front the desktop.

Then, you have to click on the icon which has the name of the disk that you would like to eject. Now, you will hold the “Apple key” or “Command” one and at the same time the “E” key. Now the disk should be ejected from the laptop.

Using the mouse

Close or minimize all the windows in order to have in front of your eyes the desktop. Now, move the mouse cursor on the icon from the desktop that corresponds to the disk. Next, you will have to click and also hold the mouse button, this meaning that you will select the icon.

Now, continue to hold the mouse button and drag the icon of the disk to the trash can. Release the button and the disk will slide out from the laptop.

So, as you can see you have many methods of ejecting the disk. Choose the one you like.
