If you are the owner of a laptop, then you know that at a certain moment in time you felt the need to enlarge the horizon and connect your laptop to a bigger screen in order to watch a movie, play a game, or maybe work at a presentation. The same thing happens with the MacBook Pro laptop, which is not bigger than 15 inches. So, you will definitely want in a certain moment to make this connection.
In today’s article I will try to help you and give you all the needed instructions in order to be able to connect your Mac to an external monitor. You will just have to follow the steps and try to pay attention, because this is not a hard process to be done.

How to connect the external monitor to your Mac via a VGA port:
The first thing that you will have to do is to turn on the monitor in order to let the Mac detect it. Now connect the DVI to VGA adapter of your laptop to the VGA port of the monitor. After you have done this, the laptop will automatically recognize the monitor. Now you will only have to adjust the resolution of the external monitor from your laptop in order to obtain a good image.
How to connect the external monitor to your Mac via DVI port:
Here things are lot easier, because you will only have to connect the Mac’s port to the monitor’s DVI port and it would automatically be detected. Do the same thing here with the resolution, if it is the case.

After you have made the connection you have to know that you can use the mouse on the new monitor too. You will practically have an extension of your laptop’s monitor on the big screen which will prove to be really helpful when you work with details.
Another plus is that you can do two things at the same time, such as playing on one screen and working on the other one, or writing some documents and checking the mail on the second monitor.
Do not forget that now when you have two monitors, you practically have two desktops. So all the stress of having a full desktop is now over because you will be able to drag the icons on the new screen. Take care to drag them until they reach the second desktop, otherwise you will find them all on the corner of the laptop’s screen.
As you can see there are only advantages and the process is not hard to be done at all. You will not need drivers or programs to install. So, have fun!
